Elämys Group restructures and appoints a new management team

Finnish travel company Elämys Group restructures its operations into two business lines. After the reorganisation, the operations with the most synergy will be centralised in the same business unit.

Aarni Kotilainen, Partner of Elämys, has been appointed as the Group’s new CEO. Kotilainen has held various positions at Elämys for more than a decade. Most recently he was director of B2B business operations.

Ari Penttilä, CEO of Matkapojat, will be Director of the new Tour Operators business line, which includes all Elämys’ tour operator brands, i.e. Matkapojat, Matka-Agentit, OK-Matkat and Elämys Cruises. The goal is to further strengthen Elämys’ position as one of the leading tour operators in the Finnish market.

Lassi Nummi will be Director of the new Business & Events business line. He was previously CEO of Assembly and he has acted as a Elämys’ advisor on a part-time basis for several years. Business & Events includes Elämys’ B2B business as well as project and platform operations. With this new business area, Elämys seeks to continue to grow faster than the business travel market and to expand its business by scalable operations with Elämys’ event platform. The Business & Events unit includes the business travel agency Menestys Travel, the Platforms operations, the MICE unit and Elämys Sport. The latter specialises in sports projects and is the exclusive hospitality seller of the Olympic Games in six European countries, for instance.

Former CEO Pasi Latva helped Elämys successfully grow in recent years and will now step aside from the Group’s operative management. He will continue as a shareholder in the company and assist the new management team in the restructure and during the transition phase. The restructure has no direct impact on personnel. The management team will soon expand with a new CFO.
